Jack is everyone’s friend and most importantly - MY HERO.

Little Jack

He saved my life one day when I was drowning in the river. I was sitting on the bank
watching the swans swim by then … I dropped off to sleep and had a horrible nightmare. I dreamed that two enormous fish jumped out of the water and were going to gobble me
all up, then I woke up in fright and slipped into the water and couldn’t get out.

Relaxing in peace but not for long

I was very frightened and started neighing for help.
Jack heard me and cantered over to see what had happened.

Once he realised that there was nothing he could do to help me, he trotted off as fast as his little legs would take him to find Mum.

Jack on his way to find Mum

He neighed and neighed at the gate and Mum immediately knew something had happened and came running out. Jack turned round as if to say:

"Mum follow me!" When they reached the river poor, mother was puffing
and panting and beside herself with worry, as I'm so precious to her!

I wonder what has happened, Chino?

The cats Chino and Chas (who are brother and sister)and all the sheep were wondering what on earth was going on.Then one of the fishermen heard all the noise and ran over to see if he could help and he kindly fished me out!

I think Bubbles has fallen in the river

Mum’s 14 year old grandson, Sam, arrived to go fishing in the river just after my drama was over. Once he heard what had happened he said, “I’ll fish here to see if I can catch it, it was properly a large carp, most of them are about 10 to 12 lbs but I know there is a very big one in there because my friend caught it one day and then returned it to the river, maybe it was that one. It was starting to get dark and there was still no sign of it, then …

Just as Sam’s Mum, Lindsay came out to tell him his supper would be ready in 10 minutes time, he suddenly felt something very heavy on the end of his line.

Sam with the whopping 28lb carp

Whilst he was pulling it in, Lindsay rushed to get her Camera. It took Sam 15 minutes to land it on to the shore.I immediately recognised it as “the monster that terrified me.”

After Sam weighed it and his Mum took a quick photograph, he put it back in the lake opposite so it couldn’t get to me again. You are not allowed to take any of the fish home and you certainly can’t kill them, they have to be put back into one of the lakes or the river.

I was so grateful to young Sam and now thanks to him …

once again …   I can relax in peace on my favourite spot.
