Wilco

“Hello everyone, yes it’s me again … Bubbles. This time with my friend Wilco! Mother has said that she wants to write this story completely on her own and without my help. I know why, because she wants to tell tales about not just Wilco, but me as well! ”
“Yes, Bubbles, for once you’re right, I am going to be telling tales about you both. But… first of all, nobody knows who Wilco is so I’m just about to introduce him to everyone. He is Fairytale and Minkie’s youngest son and he is now two years old. He is very sweet, affectionate and a real character.”
“Excuse me please Mum. Can I just butt in and tell everyone that he’s your pet? ”
“Yes you can Bubbles, but it’s not true. I don’t have pets. I love you all the same. Now go away and let me get on with this story.”

Last Summer Bubbles and Wilco did something very, very naughty

The farmer across the road was having a clay pigeon shooting party for ten people on the following Saturday. He asked me to ask my daughter, Lindsay, if she would be so kind as to prepare a nice lunch for them all in his garden, which of course she said, “Yes.”

If it’s a nice hot day, I’ll prepare a Salad of some sort with all the trimmings, and different types of sandwiches and rolls followed by Mum’s favourite cream cakes! “She also thought that they would enjoy a punch with plenty of rum and ice in it to keep them cool

Wilco

The big day arrived. The weather was warm and sunny, so Lindsay went shopping early in the morning to beat the mad rush. She bought all the food and drink, then set off home to start preparing it all for them.

Once she’d finished everything she covered it all up and went back home to finish her ironing, but stupidly forgot to close the garden gate behind her.
Well, yes, you’ve guessed!

The ponies smelt the food and rolled under the fence to go and see what Lindsay had been doing. They were very happy to see all the lovely goodies and thought they’d have a nice feast! The sandwiches, rolls and cream cakes, were Wilco’s favourite and Bubbles preferred the rum punch!

Be careful with me Wilco I’m an old man now!

Please will you help me, Wilco. I can’t get up

Do you really think I’m frightened of you Bubbles?

By the time he’d finished it all, he kept falling over.

Yipeeeeee!

Wilco had to lead Bubbles back to the field because he was soooo drunk, he was worried that someone would come and catch them both amidst all the mess.As soon as they got back home they started fighting and generally being silly. I popped in to to give them a feed at lunch time and couldn’t understand why they didn’t want it. Also, they were fighting which was very unusual for them as they usually get on very well together.

An hour later, Lindsay went back to Johnny’s Garden to generally finish the final preparations for the party. As soon as she discovered what had happened she went mad and wondered what on earth she could do.

Poor Lindsay was horrified

Come on Bubbles hurry up! Leave me alone you pest!

Johnny and his friends arrived all full of smiles thinking that they were about to tuck into a nice meal. Then he saw Lindsay looking very worried and realised something awful had happened.

He went round the corner to the patio where the party was to be held and saw all the mess, and nearly exploded.

The visitors were due to turn up in ten minutes time and she knew Johnny would be really furious. She didn’t know how she was going to start to tell him about the big disaster. The dreaded moment came.

What ever has happened, Lindsay?

Once he’d got over the shock and calmed down, he decided to ring some friends of his called Mike and Sue, who run a very pretty little pub near by to see if they could quickly lay on a meal for them all. Mike said, "Yes of course we can.” Sue said, “I’ll ask Mark our chef, if he would be so kind as to make one of his nice Chicken salads with new potatoes then they can all chose a sweet from our board.

He said, “Yes that willbe fine. It won’t take me long to prepare it all” In the mean time, Mike said,  “I’ll quickly make a nice punch and put plenty of rum in it to cheer them all up while they’re waiting. As it’s such a nice day,
 they can have their
 lunch in the garden.”

Half an hour later everyone tucked in to a lovely meal and were so grateful to Sue, Mike and Mark.Sue’s little miniature donkey called Derby who lives in the field behind the pub thoroughly enjoyed the day as well because, he had lots
 of attention.

During the meal they were chatting away, trying to think who on earth could have demolished all the food. Johnny said, "It definitely wouldn’t have been the ponies, maybe it was the wild deer who live in the nearby woodland or It could have been that wretched fox that killed three of my chickens last week.

It wasn’t us - promise

Derby

As if I’d do such a thing!

Then, I suddenly had a horrible thought, that maybe Bubbles and Wilco are the culprits. That would explain why they didn’t want their feed at lunch time, because they were full of sandwiches, rolls and cream cakes and they were fighting, then singing and Bubbles kept bucking around the field and then rolling. I hate to admit it, but I defiantly think it was them.

I have never felt so embarrassed in all my life and would like to apologise to everyone for all the trouble that they’ve caused. I will certainly be having words with them both when I get back.

As soon as I got home I went into the field to find them both. They knew that they were in big trouble and could see that I was furious so Wilco ran for his life...

But Bubbles couldn’t care less and carried on singing as he was still merry.

Half an hour later Simon arrived home from golf and when I told him what had happened, he was so cross with them both for their dreadful behaviour and for the embarrassment they’d caused me.
Bubbles soon stopped singing and galloped down the far corner of the field.
